- The roof of the public garage Gorica will soon produce almost 50 percent of the electricity needed to operate the garage during the year. This is the realization of the project “Adaptation of the roof of public garage Gorica with the installation of solar panels” which began earlier this summer.
As part of the adaptation, solar panels are being installed on the roof of the garage for the needs of a photovoltaic power plant that will produce an average of 42.5 MWh of electricity per year.
Depending on the availability of sunlight throughout the year, it is estimated that the electricity produced from solar panels will be sufficient to cover 10 to as much as 87 percent of the garage’s needs, most from April to September.
With the reduction of electricity costs, the use of electricity produced from renewable and clean sources such as solar energy will reduce CO2 emissions by 46 percent or 9,980 kWh/a.

The total value of the project is HRK 597,000, of which HRK 450,000 relates to the installation of solar panels, and the rest to the repair of the roof. In October last year, the project was applied for the Public Call of the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency to co-finance the use of RES in public buildings, which will co-finance the installation of solar panels in the amount of 40% or HRK 180,000.
Completion of the project is planned for October this year.

GREEN PUBLIC GARAGES
We would like to remind you, that the subsidiary Zagrebparking, as part of energy efficiency measures, installed environmentally and energy-efficient lighting in five public garages in 2017, which means that the achieved electricity savings in individual garages reach 40%. In the same year, the public garage Tuškanac became the first Green public garage in Zagreb.
